The Witcher 4 targeted for 2028, CD Projekt Red says
Studio says more than 500 developers are on the project and the game will not appear at gamescom 2026
The Witcher 4 is targeting a 2028 release window, CD Projekt Red said in a video message from joint Chief Executive Officer Michał Nowakowski.
Nowakowski said the studio has more than 500 developers working on the title and described it as a "huge and immersive open world, intense and action-packed gameplay, and a deep, impactful story". He added, "Simply put, this is our biggest, boldest, and most ambitious game to date."
CD Projekt will instead show new material for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion Songs of the Past at gamescom, offering what Nowakowski called "a taste of its dark story."
IGN noted that, if CD Projekt sticks to its plan to launch the new Witcher trilogy within a six-year period, The Witcher 5 could follow in 2031 and The Witcher 6 in 2034.
