How to unlock Act 3 in Silksong (it's a choice, not a boss fight)
Finish every wish, move the flea caravan, then pick the Needolin over the bind when you beat Grand Mother Silk — reload after the credits and Act 3 is there.

⚠️ This page names what you need to reach Act 3, not what happens in it — read on only if you're fine knowing that a third act exists and roughly what it takes to open it.
Act 3 doesn't open by beating Grand Mother Silk the ordinary way. It opens because you clear a checklist of side content first, then make one specific choice during that final fight.
What you need before the fight
- Every wish on the Notice Boards is finished — Bone Bottom, Bellhart and Songclave all need to be cleared out, not just the ones on your way through the main path.
- The flea caravan has relocated. Free enough of the fleas scattered around Pharloom and the caravan moves on its own. Neither Game8 nor Nintendo Life can name an exact number — both land in the same range, roughly 23 to 25 fleas — so treat it as "most of them," not a precise count.
- The Silk and Soul wish is complete. This one only appears from the Caretaker once the wishes above and the flea caravan are both already done, so it's less a separate task than a confirmation that everything else is in place.
None of this is hidden behind Act 2's final story beats — you don't need to have beaten Lace's rematch in the Cradle to work through the list, only to eventually reach Grand Mother Silk.
The choice that actually triggers it
Once the checklist above is done, get to the Grand Mother Silk fight and win it. At the end, you're given the option to bind her the normal way — don't. Instead, play the Needolin and trap her in the Abyss. That choice is what unlocks the Snarled Silk ending rather than the standard one, and it's the ending that leads into Act 3.
Sit through the credits, then reload your save from the title screen. Act 3 starts from there — the game drops you back into the world with the third act already open, no extra prompt or cutscene needed to confirm it.
What's different once Act 3 starts
The map doesn't get replaced, but it does get rearranged: new paths open into areas Hornet couldn't reach before, and — by Nintendo Life's account — a few routes that were open in Acts 1 and 2 close off, so the world isn't simply "Act 2 plus more." Expect additional wishes, bosses, Mask Shards, tools and Silk Skills scattered through the returning map, along with access to endings you can't get any other way. Some enemies also read as tougher across the board in this act, on top of whatever new fights you run into — treat any late fight you were coasting through before as worth re-checking rather than assuming it plays the same.
If you're chasing specific bosses or picking up loose threads from the quest list, it's worth doing a pass on both right before you commit to the ending choice above — once Act 3 opens, you're working through a reshuffled map, not the one you'd mapped out over Acts 1 and 2.
What to finish first
Because the unlock itself demands "every wish" and "most of the fleas," you're already forced through the bulk of Pharloom's optional content before Act 3 opens — that part isn't optional prep, it's the requirement. The one thing genuinely worth double-checking beforehand is anything tied to a path or NPC that only exists in the Act 1/2 layout: if a wish, a boss, or a collectible is sitting somewhere that reporting suggests gets locked off afterward, chase it down before you play the Needolin at Grand Mother Silk. Once you commit to that choice and reload, you're not going back to the pre-Act 3 map to mop up anything you skipped.
