Nerial shuts down after 13 years and 11 games with Devolver Digital
A joint decision with publisher Devolver Digital leaves around eight developers seeking new roles.
Development at Nerial has ended after 13 years and 11 published releases, following a joint decision between the studio and publisher Devolver Digital.
Around eight staff members are now seeking new roles. Founders Tamara and François Alliot confirmed the closure in a statement published to X, noting that the team will seek opportunities elsewhere while both founders intend to continue making games after taking time to reflect.
Nerial rose to prominence with Reigns, which launched in 2016 and generated an estimated $6.2 million before expanding into licensed spin-offs: Reigns: Game of Thrones, Reigns: Three Kingdoms on Netflix, and Reigns: The Witcher. The studio also developed Card Shark and released The Crush House in 2024, calling it its most ambitious project.
