Nexus Mods owners buy community-run SteamDB
Chosen, the company behind Nexus Mods, says SteamDB will remain a free, separate service
SteamDB has been acquired by the owners of Nexus Mods, the two sides announced.
Rock Paper Shotgun reports the site's founders said they are stepping back after running the community database for 13 years, citing burnout and a desire to find a team able to keep the service running.
The buyer is Chosen, the company that owns Nexus Mods, which said the acquisition will help it keep track of game updates from a modding perspective and that "SteamDB will continue to be SteamDB," GamesRadar+ adds.
PC Gamer reports Chosen and SteamDB's maintainers have committed that the site will not introduce ads or paywalls, and Noisy Pixel says SteamDB will remain a separate free service with additional resources following the move.
