Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D entry in the Metroid series, will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2027, Nintendo revealed during today's Nintendo Direct livestream.
The debut trailer introduces a group of mysterious villains and a new mechanic in which Samus "feeds" on enemies to gain extra powers, and it also shows Samus speaking again.
Outlets differ on the specific launch timing: Eurogamer lists January 2027 as the release month, while TheSixthAxis reports a precise date of 28 January 2027.
Nintendo Life published the game's box art and price following the reveal, and IGN has detailed what will be included in each edition and information about a new amiibo tied to the release.
